Apologies to our Connecticut Fans
Posted on Aug.02, 2010
Our apologies go out to our new and old friends in Connecticut. Security told us that we couldn’t come out and say hi to you all after the show tonight. They were worried about some security risk or something. We hope to meet you all next time around.
Best,
Matt

May 3 is the premiere of MTV’s, “True Life- I Have A Traumatic Brain Injury. This episode marks the first time MTV has asked a band to guest compose an episode. We wrote and recorded about 30 original compositions for the show. They are also using a few instrumental racks from our up coming full length album.
In association with the show, we recorded an acoustic version of our song “Fireworks Explode”. A song that was inspired by a friend of ours that suffered a brain trauma. Thanks to the folks at Top Spin, you can download the song for FREE!
Springtime Brings Busy Bees

Hey everyone!
April was a busy month. Let’s get to it.
Thanks to the folks at Top Spin, you can download the song for FREE at our website www.theftspace.com or through the True Life page at MTV.com. While you’re there, check out the Behind the Scenes video of the making of the song and hear the story behind the song.
April also brought good news for the band. It was confirmed that we’ll be heading out on our first tour this summer. We will be supporting Creed on their “20-10” tour. Ticket costs are very low and we are excited to be playing for a lot of new people in cities that the band has never been to.
We hope this news finds you all very well and we look forward to seeing you or hearing from you very soon. If you haven’t already, drop by www.facebook.com/theftspace and keep in touch. Don’t be a stranger.
Best,
Theft

MTV GIVES EMERGING ARTIST THEFT CREATIVE LICENSE
AS ITS FIRST-EVER GUEST COMPOSER
Band Creates Soundtrack For Upcoming Episode of
Critically-Acclaimed Series “True Life”
Airing on Monday, May 3 at 10PM ET/PT
New York, NY – April 29, 2010 – MTV, known for supporting artists before they become household names, is once again shining a spotlight on an up-and-comer and giving them the reigns to do what they do best – create music. On Monday, May 3 viewers tuning into the MTV EmmyAward-winning series “True Life” episode “I Have A Traumatic Brain Injury” will hear original music exclusively created for the episode by Theft. As MTV’s first-ever guest composer, Theft has been given a unique opportunity to produce original content for one the network’s most successful and long-standing series, allowing their music to be introduced to an audience that may not be familiar with them. MTV “True Life” airs on Mondays at 10pm ET/PT.
“MTV has always believed in giving emerging artists the chance to shine and get their music out,” said Joe Cuello, Vice President, Creative Music Integration, MTV. “We truly believe in Theft’s talents and are excited to support them by using our many platforms to introduce their music to our audience.”
After the premiere of “True Life: I Have A Traumatic Brain Injury” viewers can go to the “True Life” series page on MTV.com to download an exclusive acoustic version of “Fireworks Explode” which has special meaning to the band because it was inspired by a close friend who had suffered a brain injury. The band also works closely with the Brain Injury Association of America to support awareness of this issue.

The L.A. based Theft (Matt McCartie and Dwayne Larring,) whose name was inspired by a U2 lyric, and MTV have already established a working relationship. After coming to the attention of several MTV music supervisors the network chose to use some of the band’s tunes as theme songs for a few high-profile series including “Fireworks Explode” for “It’s On with Alexa Chung,” “Breathing Underwater” for “Gone Too Far” and “Never Be The Same” for new series “If You Really Knew Me.” Theft released their debut EP Breathing Underwater in January 2010 and will release a full-length album, The Hard Way, later this year. In addition, the band will be hitting the road this summer when they open up for Creed on their 2010 Tour.
“True Life,” explores topics relevant to young people by telling their stories through first-person accounts and delves into issues on cultural trends covering matters relating to lifestyle subjects such as health, sex drugs, spirituality, money and more. In 2009, “True Life” received a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Special Class Series category.
“True Life” is Executive Produced by Dave Sirulnick, Marshall Eisen, Betsy Forhan and Jim Fraenkel of MTV.
